South Korean Government Space Budget

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) had a 2015 budget of ## billion won (US$## million), an increase of ##% from its budget in FY 2014 of ## billion won (US$## million). In February 2015, the South Korean government announced plans to develop South Korea into a major space power. This includes continued development of a Korean-made launch vehicle and improvement in the country’s ability to utilize information gathered by satellites. The announcement coincided with the launch of the Korea Multipurpose Satellite 3A (Arirang-3A), which carries both optical and infrared sensors.
