Dr. Jennifer “Jinni” Meehan

Dr. Jennifer “Jinni” Meehan is the National Space Weather Program Manager for the Analyze, Forecast and Support Office at National Weather Service (NWS) headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. Jinni manages one of the 11 service programs of the NWS, space weather, and provides the coordinate needed within NOAA and across the federal government to ensure a Space-Weather-Ready Nation. Jinni works with NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center on issues related to global, national, regional, and local policy, products, and services to leverage resources and support forecast consistency.

Jose Hernandez

Founder of Tierra Luna Engineering, LLC José M. Hernández is a former NASA Astronaut, was selected as part of NASA’s 19th class of astronauts in 2004 where he trained and served as the flight engineer on the 2009 14-day STS-128 mission aboard Space Shuttle Discovery. Before being selected as an astronaut, Jose worked at NASA as the Branch Chief of the Materials and Processes Branch at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. There he oversaw the branch’s activities in the areas of materials and processes, fracture control, nondestructive evaluation, failure analysis, and Nano materials research. His branch was also instrumental in participating in the investigation to help find the root cause of the Space Shuttle Columbia accident and reporting those results to the President’s Columbia Accident Investigation Board.

Her published research has focused on the spontaneous emergence of cultural dynamics from individual cognition and the social construction of cryptocurrencies’ economic worth. She is also a founding board member of the Computational Democracy Project, a non-profit that combines machine learning with insights into socio-technical systems to facilitate large-scale, online deliberation processes across the World.
